The background. In 2023, Škoda underwent its biggest rebranding in
30 years, with a new tagline “Let’s Explore”. Yet, Škoda isn't alone in linking their brand to adventures. So to stand out in Norway’s competitive EV-market where Tesla and Volkswagen dominate, Škoda needed to build brand resilience and show a genuine and fresh take on exploration that could tap into the Norwegians love for traveling.
The idea. Škoda Mystery Trips is a free AI service that generates millions of unique travel route combinations. By curating Norway's largest travel database and integrating natural language processing, the AI plans personalized trips based on your inputs, eliminating the need for planning. To add a real sense of exploration, the places you’ll end up are kept a mystery until arrival.
The results. The low barrier to experience the service has resulted in over 20,000 generated Mystery Trips. 50,000 active hours have been spent with the brand. And a total of 3 million kilometers have been covered exploring by both Škoda owners and drivers of competitors’ cars. It has also been picked up by one of Norway's largest newspapers (Aftenposten), as one of the travel tools Norwegians use in 2024.
