Turn a sleeping baby over on the back.
Univeristy of Bergen | A Turn For Crib Deaths
↡
The background. For decades the University of Bergen has affected the whole world with scientific discoveries. In 2021 they celebrateted 75 years, so to mark the anniversary we promoted several of the research findings they've achieved since its founding.
The Insight. One of these findings was professor Trond Markestad and his team’s research on crib death in the early 90s. For decades we thougth that newborns should sleep on their stomachs, but this resulted in a frighteningly high number of crib deaths. Markestad and his team found out that newborns rather should sleep on their backs. The research reduced the incidents by 50%.
The Idea. To communicate this achievement, we created an interactive print where the readers could help turn a sleeping baby over on the back. The print got published in one of Norway’s largest news magazines, VG Helg, and a local newspaper in Bergen.
